Stepping in the 15mm War games , Land Core.

Well you know with all the starships , spacestations and other space goodies , you some times have to come back to the solid ground. Ive been looking to get back to ground base models , played around with 1/60th scale , but it just wasn't what i needed, then i discovered 15mm models.with great companies like Rebel minis ,Khurasan minisatures and Critical mass , i got the bug. so i started my upcoming line "Land Core". I will mostly be making tanks, vehicles, landing and troop carriers, and of course Mechs , lots of mechs. This scale alowsme to create much more than i ever could with 1/60th scale. Ive started with a heavy Grav tank, a APC and scout car. Plus a Huge 3 man Mech. In the works i will have a command carrier, jeeps, light tanks and 6 diffrent mechs. the release of will be later in the year , these are just perview pics. later...:)

This is great news! The models look good and I think there's a distinct lack of good looking mechs in 15mm!

I'll make a post about this on Dropship Horizon as well. :)

Great news.
Please consider making APC similar to MBT tanks, so they both well suit together as a one platoon.

I would love to buy Lancer Heavy APC from Old Crow Models, if only they would offer similar tank.

Given the work you've done in the past, I have to say I'm disappointed in everything except the mech. It's all blocky and generic looking.

Of course this seems to be a common affliction in the scale. :/

C'mon, surprise me. :)

these were designed to be blocky looking..
The gav tank was designed to be more of a tank killer design. most of the designs out there are more of the turrnet style , the APC is very blocky , simple in design/
i am also looking at price points . but understand these are the first ones , and they are not fleshed out , once you see them dressed up ( detailed,) it makes a diffrence.
i do have other designs coming out that are more sleeker in style. what type of look or style are you looking for from me.???

MBT = main battle tank

Or were you taking the piss with the redundancy? .;)

It's entirely possible they'll look better with the detail on. Tanking a second look at the Mech, I hope it's legs get some attention. Otherwise the worthwhile bit would just be the torso. :)

Personally I want something unusual and well thought out. Personality seems to be entirely lacking in 15mm sci-fi, and no one does anything that really says hitech. From my perspective it's all rehashed moderns and tank - treads = grav tank. And the designs that are not are seemingly designed to be so generic that they look fake. Like some low polygon model of a unit from a bargin bin computer strategy game.

I'd love to see stuff like Maschinen Krieger, Starwars, Masamune Shirows Appleseed's insect inspired designs, Hiyao Miyazaki's odd machinery (primarily thinking Naussica). Something that looks like it was designed to be a working machine or cultural statement rather than a miniature.

Hell, I'd even love to see some of the wacky retro-futurism from the 50's and 60's.

no no , i really did not know what it meant,:)
Ben , a lot of thought and inttention goes into my designs. the tank is designed inside in out, each part is where it is at for a reason. the mech like i said is still in the works. there was no intent to make these look anime , which you can see. i wanted these to look 20 to 40 years down the line if we had gav tech tomorrow . but not to worry more stuff to come.

Not saying I want them to look anime at all. The people I mentioned are the originators of those styles, and have a better understanding of the why's than any of their imitators. :) If teh anime offends, what about Moebius?

I'm not looking for near future, but like you say maybe the next set will be more my taste.

This is an interesting subject and I get what you're saying Ben (although I might not agree with all of it).

15mm sci fi right now is very focused on the near future, hard-ish sci fi. I don't have a problem with this personally as that is the kind of force I'm building at the moment, but I would also welcome more diverse designs. Maschinen Krieger is an excellent example of fairly realistic looking designs that still have a very distinct design philosophy to them.

That being said, I like the designs you've come up with so far Chris. Especially the mech (although more detail on the legs will be welcome), but the other vehicles as well.

This is very exciting. I have been considering making the move to 15mm for quite some time, and with the quality of your stuff (normally) it will be an easy transition once you begin selling.
